RARS Race Report & News About Upcoming Races May 7th, 2000 RARS is the Robot Auto Racing Simulation, a competition for programmers and an on-going challenge for practicioners of Artificial Intelligence and real-time adaptive optimal control. It consists of a simulation of the physics of cars racing on a track, a graphic display of the race, and a separate control program (robot "driver") for each car. All RARS software and activities are free and open to the public. It runs on DOS, Windows, OS/2, UNIX, Linux, and several other platforms. K1999's 100% score is gone. Nazareth is a short, narrow, oval-like track. The speed differences here are a bit lower than usual, making passing very important. Sparky and Felix had less trouble than K1999 getting past the slower contenders, and took home first and second place. Marc Gueury joined the current season, bringing along his old but fast 'Bulle' bot. It did quite well, although Marc doesn't really believe it has chances of winning a race. We'll see...
