RARS Race Report & News About Upcoming Races September 24th, 2000 RARS is the Robot Auto Racing Simulation, a competition for programmers and an on-going challenge for practicioners of Artificial Intelligence and real-time adaptive optimal control. It consists of a simulation of the physics of cars racing on a track, a graphic display of the race, and a separate control program (robot "driver") for each car. All RARS software and activities are free and open to the public. It runs on DOS, Windows, OS/2, UNIX, Linux, and several other platforms. For more information e-mail to gcp@users.sourceforge.net. Collins 1 pts (USA) BigRed ------------------------------------------------------------------- Comments Ok so the university does allow floppy disks to be used ;) I've created a mailinglist rars-races@lists.sourceforge.net and will be setting it up in a few minutes. Are we going to switch everything over to sourceforge or will we keep the old address? If we do the latter, Oscar might want to manually subscribe the new address to the old mailinglist. This way mails that are sent to the old address _should_ arrive at the new list too, which has an archive. I've also put the results from all the races of the current season, plus the regulations, on the ftp site, as well as in a dir /results on the website (rars.sourceforge.net/results/) I'll try to link them in from the main page, but I'm not sure if it'll work because the files from the webpage only have group reading (not writing) access. Marc, could you do a 'chmod g+rw *' for the website files, or add the links yourself? Also note that my email address has changed (well, not really) and you should use gcp@users.sourceforge.net. The old one (@advalvas.be) seems to lose mail every now and then. Don't use the one from this mail either, cos I have no idea what it will be ;) Drivers: BigRed was updated to version 19. Movies are at : ftp://rars.sourceforge.net/pub/rars/indygp.zip ftp://rars.sourceforge.net/pub/rars/cstlcomb.zip Greetings, Gian-Carlo
